Lansing government bid and proposal help
Lansing bid help, from the State of Michigan to City Hall.
Great Lakes Bids is based in Lansing, where state agencies, the City of Lansing, Ingham County, and large public institutions all buy from local businesses. We help small firms read those solicitations, build a cited compliance matrix, and write the response, for flat fees with no cut of the award.
State of Michigan contracts (SIGMA)
As the state capital, Lansing is where much of Michigan’s state purchasing happens. The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) runs central procurement, and state solicitations are posted in SIGMA Vendor Self Service (free to register). State RFPs often have:
- Mandatory minimum requirements that are scored pass/fail before anything else is read.
- Required state forms, certifications, and a separate pricing schedule.
- Question deadlines well before the due date, and responses submitted through SIGMA by a set time.
City of Lansing bids on MITN
The City of Lansing posts its solicitations through the MITN Purchasing Group. Recent postings have ranged from quick RFQs for services and equipment to formal RFPs for engineering and infrastructure design, with short windows on the informal ones. Some allow electronic or mailed submission, so the instructions matter.
Ingham and Eaton county governments, townships, and school districts also post on MITN or their own sites, and Michigan State University runs its own purchasing.
Federal work from Lansing
Federal buys across Michigan, like the Defense Logistics Agency RFQ in Battle Creek used in our sample matrix, are posted on SAM.gov. Registration there is always free.
